German Design Award, reviewed and awarded by the German Brand Design Committee. The predecessor of the award can be traced back to 1969 "German Federal Good Design Award", which was commissioned by the German Brand Design Council and awarded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. Since 2006, the "German Federal Award for Good Design" has been renamed the "German Federal Republic of Germany Design Award", which is awarded by the German Brand Design Council under the mandate of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
The German Design Award, which has been organized by the German Brand Design Council since 2012, is presented to companies and designers who are innovative in their products and designs. Only works officially nominated by the German Brand Design Council are allowed to enter the German Design Awards competition. The selection criteria included overall concept, sustainability, design quality, durability and functionality. The competition consists of three parts: product design, visual communication design and architectural design.
The award registration can be made by individuals or enterprises, which must be approved by the German Brand Design Committee. Or the works recommended by the German Brand Design Committee can be nominated, and most of the nominated works are international Design Award winners.
